self portrait

i needed a new picture of me. After a sad disaster last fall, my hair had to be chopped off. I haven't been able to find a good picture of me with it short, so I thought I'd do a few test shots. It went horribly wrong until my hubby came home. I handed him the camera, and he snapped one photo and one photo only. I got to try out my new b/w action on photoshop. So, here I am :)

one of the best parts about being an older sister is that i get to make my baby sisters into my guinea pigs :D of course, these days it's easier to talk them into things. (not so much when we were younger and i made them do my evil bidding) this is my gorgeous sister megan again. Doesn't she have the most amazing eyes! They are big and beautiful. I don't have to do much to them!! these shots were taken at my house, in my yard. it was kind of a spur of the moment thing. the sun came out for a bit and we got some cute shots in. then i experimented inside with some natural light in front of a window. I used a trick i read on jessica kettle's blog for the background (wrapping paper! genius!!) her link is on my sidebar. I love the way it turned out, the lighting seemed just right....i just didn't really know what to do with it once i got it into photoshop, so i kinda just played with the curves, popped her eyes and poof. thats it!! its so much fun to experiment. the only problem is...i have no idea if they look good to other people! i am happy with the outcome...i'm sure it could be better, and my sister loves them..so thats' all that counts right???

this is j. he let me take his senior pics! he even said he liked them.... isn't that nice??? i found an awesome blue staircase. i love it! i tried some different things with photoshop because the sun was SO bright when i took the pics. i thought they'd turn out icky and we'd have to re-shoot, but they actually turned out pretty good!! of course i am biased though....

this is my other sister, stacey. yes I call her mace..... *the reason why is below*

She is graduating high school this year (that makes me old...) and agreed to let me take her senior pictures. She's so cute and I love the way these pictures turned out. The sun was not cooperating with me that day...it kept going behind the clouds, which is fine, but i love that "golden" look you get for about 20 min before the sun goes down. It's my favorite...it casts pretty shadows! anyways, i'm still learning photoshop so don't be too harsh on me!

thanks stacey, i'm so proud of you! She's been an A student her entire life, and has been going to high school AND college to become a medical assistant and will be able to go straight from high school to her career! love you mace!!

*oh yeah..why do i call her mace?? its a funny story....when she was born, i was 9. my sister megan was 2. i was so used to saying "megan" that i'd start to talk to stacey, but i'd start saying megans name so mace...came from me fixing my mistake, but it stuck!!*

yet another blog

maybe i need to join bloggers anonymous. I have too many blogs. I have a cooking blog, a blog backgrounds blog, a personal blog, and now this is my photography blog! Someday I'm sure I'll have a wedding cake blog and a flower arranging blog and pretty much every blog for my every hobby and interest. I am a boring housewife. I don't do anything special. I love to be creative and photography has been an interest I've had since high school when i took my very first photography class (almost 10 years ago, YIPE!) This is my documentation of taking pictures and attempting photoshop! I don't claim to be good at this, just trying my own thing!
